THE LIFEJACKET

A useful analogy is that of many shipwrecked people sinking in a sea of sin.

Lifejackets are available for each and every one of them.

If they all accept the need to put on a lifejacket now, they are closer to salvation, but not as yet eternally saved.

The lifejackets will fit anyone who truly desires to be free of the sin that they are sinking in.

All those who put on the lifejacket are assured that it will always save the wearer from sinking in the sea of sin.

But only those who keep the lifejacket on until they reach the Promised Land are eternally saved.

Those who wear the lifejacket for a while but take it off before they reach the Promised Land begin sinking again.

If those who have taken their lifejacket off reject and discard it, with no hope of wearing it again, they are eternally lost.

Guess who the Lifejacket is!

But Jesus will forever stay.

VICTORY OVER JEZEBEL

She wants me dead,
Off with my head.

She opposes my leadership.
Hoping my feet will slip.

She lies, connives and gossips about me,
Maligns and despises God's man I am called to be.

She worships dumb idols and follows false gods,
Seduces her prey and sets them at odds.

She is dangerously evil but is soundly defeated,
God's Word reveals that Christ's work is completed.

In victory over Jezebel the Church rises up,
The battle is the Lord's and He pours out His cup.

Author's Note:
It seems to me that while cups are
 literally
containers from which to consume whatever they are filled with,
figuratively
"cups are a statement about allotted portions given for related reasons to those specially chosen to partake of them."

THEY SAID

They said there was no right and wrong

- so I asked them how they knew they were right about that.

They said there were no absolutes

- so I asked them if they were absolutely sure about that.

They said the truth is whatever you want it to be

 - so I asked if they knew why Jesus Christ was crucified.

FIVE STONES FROM THE BROOK

1.
Scripture speaks of a defiant giant,
Goliath is his name.
He stands opposed to the Will of God,
Whose people he wants to shame.
2.
But there is a brook of Living Water,
Which is the Word of God.
David the shepherd-boy knew its worth,
When a righteous path he trod.
3.
Five stones from the brook washed clean and rubbed smooth,
He gleans into his bag.
Equipped with these and a humble sling,
David's courage does not flag.
4.
Although the work of ministry is his,
The battle is the LORD's.
Complete in character and function,
David's faith has its rewards.
5.
He takes an anointed stone from his bag,
To smite Goliath's head.
With a slingshot throw and a sharp sword blow,
He proclaims the giant dead.
6.
Saints of God have complete authority,
For works of ministry,
As one building up the ekklesia,
Bringing down the enemy.
7.
Some apostles, prophets, evangelists,
Some pastors and teachers,
When He ascended Christ gave us these ,
To arm His Gospel preachers.

NOT CAST DOWN

See on whom no blessings fall,
A sharp reminder to us all,
Of higher powers now at work,
To drive the human race berserk.

See on him the curse of death,
That draws away his labouring breath,
Until a faint and feeble sigh,
He casts when forced to yield and die.

I will not by disappointment
Cast down be:
To any dank dark dungeon of deep despair;
Or by sinful society
Shackled be:
To the cold callous circumstances of cruel adversity;

I will by encouragement
Edified be:
Along with the enabled enlightened elect;
Who by the LORD in salvation
Uplifted be:
To the success of His highly righteous citadel.

Habakkuk 3:17,18,19.

Psalm 37:21,22,23,24; 34.

Psalm 91:14-16  Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known My Name. (15) He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. (16) With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him My Salvation.

Faster Than Light In the Future

The dream of being able to travel faster than light could one day become a reality.

The technology involved would be fascinating as would the history of its development.

The possibility of interstellar and intergalactic travel, exploration, migration and commerce may seem unobtainable to many but I am willing to believe that it can be done.

Correct me if this is wrong but my quick search tells me that the Sun's nearest known stellar neighbor is a red dwarf star called Proxima Centauri, at a distance of 4.3 light-years away.

This calculates as 40,681,440,000,000 kilometres.

Imagine the velocity needed to reduce travelling time to the Proxima Centauri system from 4.3 light years to 4.3 months, or days, or hours, or minutes.

I'm told the Andromeda Galaxy located at a distance of 2 million light-years away is our nearest major galaxy and is of comparable size to our own, but we must reduce travelling time to at least 2 years to make it a viable commercial proposition.

Two years to cover a distance of 2 million light-years is a big ask. That's about 2,750 light-years per day or 114.5 light-years per hour.

But get the sums right and centuries from now mankind could be crossing the Universe at zillions of light-years per second.

Just log in a destination and away you go!

The Andromeda Galaxy

One light-year is equal to 9,500,000,000,000 kilometers.
